Bosphorus Antique cymbals are professional Turkish cymbals for the drummer who wants the best. With an unlathed bottom and partially lathed top these drum cymbals have warm smooth tone perfect for all types of music.
The Bosphorus Antique Cymbals marry both lathing patterns found on the Traditional Series and the Turk Series. These types of cymbals provide the brilliance of a vintage, lathed cymbal and the dryness of a natural, unlathed cymbal.
The top side of the cymbal has an unlathed bell and a slim strip of unlathed cymbal roughly half-way between the bell and the edge. The underside of the cymbal is entirely lathed. The rides express themselves with intense definition and sufficient however managed overtones. The crashes create a somewhat mellowed tone with fast decay. Performers wanting to experiment will enjoy the numerous textures offered by the diverse playing surfaces.
Bosphorus Cymbals was founded in 1996 by three-master cymbal smiths, Hasan Seker, Ibrahim Yakici and Hasan Ozdemir. They're labeled Masters because they're the most skilled cymbal smiths in Turkey that are still working actively.
The creators of Bosphorus were 3 close friends that were raised in the same community. Their common bond was being taken to work in a community cymbal workshop. Their modest beginnings involved cleaning the workshop and other menial tasks, but eventually they were schooled in the art of producing cymbals. During the early ages of their youth they became cymbal smiths. Their instructors were the masters who produced the famous cymbals of 60’s and 70’s.
